Grand Revival

Location: Ridgefield, CT. A gracious, traditionally appointed home with elegant architecture and wooded grounds.

Client Type: A large, vibrant family with many grandchildren.

Design Goal: The clients wanted a home that could rise to the occasion of frequent, multi-generational gatherings while still feeling intimate and richly personal. Drawn to classic elegance and a sense of timeless permanence, they sought interiors that would welcome a busy, growing family with grace, layering refinement and comfort so the home felt both grand and genuinely lived in.

The home is classically traditional with a refined European sensibility, drawing on old world detail and a sense of heritage. The palette is built on soft, sophisticated neutrals: warm taupe and greige, creamy ivory, dove gray, and aged stone, accented with antique gold, polished nickel, and rich dark wood. Materials are layered and luxurious, from honed marble and grasscloth to silk and damask textiles.

Signature details give the home its collected, timeless character: detailed millwork and raised panel walls, hand painted and botanical wallpapers, antique and antiqued furnishings, gilded mirrors and carved sconces, and statement crystal and glass lighting. Tonally the work is elegant, gracious, warm, and timeless.

Our scope spanned space planning, custom millwork and finish selection, lighting design, window treatments, and furnishing and styling. We approached the home as a series of layered, classically composed rooms, each balancing formality with the warmth a large family needs, anchoring grand gestures like a checkerboard marble foyer and double staircase with intimate, tactile moments throughout.

Lighting was layered with care, weaving together crystal chandeliers, antique sconces, and architectural accent lighting to flatter the rich finishes. Furnishings blend fine antiques with bespoke upholstery, creating interiors that feel inherited and enduring, a refined, welcoming home built for generations to gather.
