The Struggles and Joys of Rebranding My Design Business

The Struggles and Joys of Rebranding My Design Business

Rebranding a business isn’t just about changing a logo or updating a website.

It’s about redefining identity, reconnecting with your purpose, and inviting your clients to walk that path alongside you.

When I first began exploring a rebrand, I even considered changing the name entirely, from Architexture Group to something more personal: Julie Jane Interiors. I thought it would be a smooth, exciting transition. Instead, it became one of the most challenging and soul-searching projects I have ever taken on, and it ultimately led me somewhere I didn’t expect.

Rethinking a Name with History

Architexture Group was my first “baby.” It represented years of passion, long nights, and countless projects. So when I began asking whether the name still reflected who I had become, it stirred up more emotion than I anticipated. Even imagining letting it go felt like shedding an old skin, freeing and strangely painful all at once.

There is a real weight to questioning something you have built, even when you are only trying to make it better. That tension is what sent me searching.

The Search for the Right Fit

Choosing a potential new name was harder than I expected. It wasn’t just about picking something catchy. It had to represent my values, my aesthetic, and the personal connection I bring to every design. Julie Jane Interiors felt intimate and timeless, and for a while I was sure it was the answer.

But the doubts kept surfacing. Would clients take me seriously? Would the brand feel too personal? Would people be confused by the change? The more I sat with it, the more I realized I was trying to solve the wrong problem.

“What I needed wasn’t a new name. It was a truer expression of the one I already had.”

The Logistics, and the Headaches

Even exploring a rebrand came with a long, humbling list of what a full change would require:

  • Updating legal paperwork and business registrations
  • Redesigning the website and marketing materials
  • Communicating the change to clients, vendors, and partners
  • Updating social media handles and email signatures

Seeing everything the name touched was clarifying in itself. Architexture Group was woven through every corner of the business, and that reach was a reminder of how much the name already meant.

Listening to My Clients

As I floated the idea of a change, my clients’ reactions became the most telling part of the whole process. Some worried it signaled a shift in services or team. Others feared it meant moving away from the work they had come to love. What I heard underneath all of it was how much they connected with the name and the trust it had earned.

That feedback reassured me of something important: the heart of my work had never changed. What needed refreshing wasn’t the name at all. It was the look and feel around it.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

Clarity is everything.
Clients and collaborators need to know not just what is changing, but why.

Consistency builds trust.
Refreshing every brand touchpoint together kept the story cohesive and prevented confusion.

It’s okay to grieve the old.
Rebranding is both a business and a personal journey, and honoring that made it easier to embrace the new.

Sometimes the answer is already yours.
The most authentic move isn’t always reinvention. Occasionally it’s rediscovering what you had.

The Same Name, Reimagined

In the end, I chose to keep the name Architexture Group and instead transform its look and feel. The refreshed brand reflects who I am today and where I want to take my practice, while honoring the history and trust the name has always carried.

The process was messy, emotional, and at times overwhelming, but it was worth every moment of doubt. If you are considering a rebrand yourself, know that it isn’t only a change in name. It’s a transformation of identity, and sometimes that journey leads you right back home, to something more authentic and meaningful than before.

A renewed vision, built for what comes next. Let’s create something meaningful together.
